So what's so great about Wi-Fi anyway?

There's just something about being tethered by a wire that people just don't like for some reason.  I once had a job for a couple of months as a tech support agent for an Internet service provider.  I just couldn't stand being on the phone all day with my little wired headset.  I felt like I was on a leash!

It happened with phones a couple of years ago.  Now everyone is ditching their landlines and picking up their mobile phones.  Now the same thing is happening with computers.  The prices of wireless routers and network cards are about the same as their wired counterparts. 

Wi-Fi can be used for many different reasons.  Some use it to setup a home network without having to run cable throughout their house.  Many small and large businesses use it for the same reason (cat 5 cable is expensive!).  A lot of people use Wi-Fi while traveling... in airports, hotels, RV parks, and gas stations.

Tim, the creator of this site, runs a small web design business from his home.  He has a Wi-Fi laptop and business cell phone, so his office is totally mobile.  Tim often spends his time in coffee shops creating web sites and doing other programming.
